Fall Weather in Pigeon Forge
Autumn in the Great Smoky Mountains is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit. Why? Not only is the scenery gorgeous to look at, but the milder temperatures make it the ideal weather for spending time outside. The crisp autumn nights and chilly mornings give way to warmer afternoons, and the fresh mountain air ensures you’ll love fall in Pigeon Forge!
Pigeon Forge Fall Events
One of the best parts about visiting during the autumn season is the abundance of seasonal things to do! Here are just a few of the exciting fall events happening in September and October in Pigeon Forge:
- Jack-toberfest at Lumberjack Feud: Our Pigeon Forge fall festival combines our traditional feud with Bavarian-inspired food and brews, along with a beer stein hold competition, exclusive Oktoberfest beer, souvenirs, and more!
- Craveyard Nights at Crave Golf Club: This mini golf attraction transforms into a spooky “Craveyard” for a unique Halloween-themed putt putt experience. There’s also face painting, photo ops with spooky characters, and a zombie escape room!
- Wears Valley Fall Fest: Nearly 300 craftspeople and vendors come together to celebrate fall in the Smoky Mountains, plus fantastic live music and delicious dining options!
- Trick-or-Treating at The Island: If you’re looking for somewhere to go trick-or-treating in Pigeon Forge on Halloween, look no further than The Island, with its spooky decor, seasonal food, and a family-friendly environment.
Best Places to See Fall Foliage
Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers hundreds of miles of hiking trails to explore, as well as scenic drives, overlooks, and picnic areas where you can relax and admire the brilliant hues of autumn. Some of our favorite spots for viewing the stunning foliage include Kuwohi, Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, Cades Cove Loop Road, and Chimney Tops. Wondering when Smoky Mountain fall foliage will be at its peak? You’ll see leaves changing in higher elevations as early as mid-September, while lower elevations typically see fall colors by early to mid-October.
Besides the national park, there are plenty of other places to enjoy fall colors! In Pigeon Forge, you can experience the Smokies in the fall by taking in the views from the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel at The Island. The scenic Wears Valley Road is another ideal route for a fall scenic drive that typically has less traffic than the Parkway!
